Writing means a lot of things to many people. It may be a hobby, a profession or simply a means of communication. As for me, it is a love-hate relationship. I started writing in grade school and the spark of inspiration came from the beam of pride on my father's face when my poem first saw print in our school paper. The romance with writing continued through college where I got to be feature editor of the university paper until it turned to love-gone-sour. It started to be a means of survival and I swore never to write again after I practically puked toughing my thesis out. But guess what... God has other plans for me. He was not about to put the core gift to waste.
I landed my first job at "Barkada" (that's a Filipino word for peers or friends), a Catholic magazine meant to evangelize high schoolers. Nine months later, I ended up in a creative writing job at the only state television network of the Philippines. Tough luck huh! There was no escaping my destiny. I was meant to write... and have been doing so professionally for fifteen years now. At first, it was just a matter of paychecks until writing actually brought me to different places and made my life exciting and yes, very fulfilling. Now, it has brought me to the worldwide web... another venue to explore. So if you are someone who wants to get bitten by the writing bug, come on and join the fun!
